Wordless Wednesday

This spider is on a bush right outside our garage.  I have a thing for spiders.  I could watch him all day!  I have even caught moths for him.  He shed his skin a few weeks ago.  I had NO idea they could do that!!  Very cool!

I'm behind the times on the 7 year old "dating scene"

A boy whose dad owns a limo company told Bailey & Reece if they buy him a "boy toy" (as in, not a barbie or doll) and call him master, he will take them to the movies in his dad's limo.  How funny is that?  What a strange little boy.... LOL  When I was 7 boys still thought the girls had cooties.  How times have changed.

Kahlua is dying

We went back for Kahlua's bloodwork to see if his liver was doing any better.  His numbers were now even higher than before.  Tonight our vet opened Kahlua up to take  a look at his liver.  It was completely diseased.  The liver is supossed to be a deep mahogany color, but instead it is light brown and pink mottled.  He took a biopsy and is sending it to UGA for analysis, but there is nothing that can be done.  He has about 3-4 months to live.  We are devastated.  He is our baby.  We've had him since Bailey was 2 and he is just the most wonderful cat ever.  I don't know how we'll live without him.  The kids cried all night.

Here are his lab reports.  The numbers written to the side are from last month.  You can see they are worse.  (Sorry it is sideways)

No vacation for the family

We made our reservation for Universal Studio before we realized that my brother would be getting married so soon.  I knew he was going to propose, but I figured that the wedding would be next year.  We have wanted to take a big vacation every other year and this past September we went to Disney.  We planned on going somewhere next year, but with Jason's wedding, we figured we'd take the trip now.  Then, he decided to have the wedding in Dec. or Jan.  We've been looking at our money situation and there is just no way to afford it all.  We also had booked a trip to Savannah for my best friend from high school's wedding in October.  We just had to cancel that too, as the hotel cost $400 for both nights.  I feel awful for not being able to attend the wedding, but we can't do it all, and we just have to go to my brother's wedding!  So, the kids are all upset, of course, but we'll make it up to them next year!

First Day of School

Here are the pictures from last Monday.  The first one is of both kids and the second one is Bailey with her teacher.

Fluffy is in the hamster wheel in the sky!

We lost our hamster this Saturday night, after 2 days of watching him gasp for each breath.  It was so sad.  We had a funeral for him in the back yard and Bailey buried him and then made a stone marker for his grave.  You can see our neighbor's cat watching out for Fluffy!

This man is my hero

This story will blow your mind.   I'm crying right now. It's about a boy who was born with no eyes and crippled, but has overcome the odds and is in a marching band...with the help of his father.

A wedding is in our future!

My brother Jason proposed to his girlfriend Jenny today. We met Jenny last summer and fell in love with her. She couldn't be more perfect for Jason or the girls! I can't wait for the wedding. I can't wait for the kids and Dave to see New Mexico either. Congrats Jason & Jenny! Here they are last Thanksgiving with my nieces.

Vacation!

So, today, on the spur of the moment, we planned a vacation in September.  Our county has a week off in Sept. and it's the perfect time to travel because everyone else in the US is in school.  We also have a week off in Feb. but everything is crowded because a lot of northern schools plus Canada vacation at that time.  Sooo, last year we did the Disney thing and we thought about doing it again because we're Disney freaks...but we were too late to get the free dining and I just couldn't justify spending $2200 for the value resort, when we spent $1800 last year for a nicer one.  We ended up deciding to do Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure.  We've never done that and we heard it was so much fun...esp for Jake, since he's almost 11.  We're staying in the Nick Hotel which is just amazing! Check out these pools:

And who wouldn't want to get slimed?

So, needless to say, we're excited!

Wordless Wednesday

This is my dad's father, Harry.  I'm not sure who the other man is...possibly his father? I think my grandfather looks a lot like my older brother, Jason.
