Tony Campolo on Colbert

Ok, so I'm still having problems embedding video- I can't figure out what is wrong.  So, I put my video in the top right sidebar.  Click on VodPod

Earlier in the month, Tony Campolo was on The Colbert Report (my favorite show!)  He was just so incredible- it's a must see.  I cannot wait to read his book, Red Letter Christians.  It is so refreshing to see someone who is an evangelical Christian, who is a liberal democrat- who believes in all human rights- including gay marriage.  Plus, he played right along with Colbert's humor and I like that.  :)

I really want you to watch the video, but if you don't, here are some great clips from the transcript:
:: the people who believe this the red-letters of the bible, the words of jesus. we are totally committed to it which means we're in to compassion for the poor, first and foremost. compassion to the poor

Upon confronted with gay marriage, Tony states that marriage is in trouble in America because of heterosexual divorces.

:: all they want is the same privileges, good or bad, that the rest of us enjoy. don't get me wrong. i am not affirming a particular lifestyle. i am, in fact, standing up for all the rights andprivileges that all americans should enjoy.

:: we want justice for our gay brothers and lesbian sisters because we think that god loves them intensely. he wants good for them.

Wow- I just love that- especially coming from someone as respected as Tony Campolo.  It's about human rights, people! Who are we to judge?  We, as Christians, do so much of that already.
