Why my last post took an hour to write.

Yep, he's a mouse chaser!

Top Ten Tuesday: Tv Shows

My Top Ten Favorite Shows

Amanda started a Top Ten Tuesday, so I thought I'd join in.  If you likey, head over there to see more!

1. LOST- do I even need to comment on this one?  I follow Lostpedia like it's my next meal and no one can interrupt me on Wednesday nights at 9.

2. Grey's Anatomy (and I'll just lump Private Practice in the mix)

McDreamy, McSteamy & Taye Diggs.  How can you go wrong?  A good storyline helps!

3. House- I love Hugh Laurie from Stuart Little to Jeeves & Wooster.  House is no exception, even though it's a total turnaround from the slapstick comedy roles that he is known for in England.

4. Anthony Bourdain's No Reservations- Tony is my main man.  There is nothing more satisfying to me than a No Reservations marathon.  I could watch this show all day and I have.  Witty, dry humor. It's all about the attitude, baby.

5. Prison Break  Wentworth Miller...those eyes...need I say more?

6. Bizarre Foods  with Andrew Zimmern.  This is serious tv for serious foodies.  Who wouldn't want to watch this? Ok, fine, if the thought of watching a loudly chewing man down some bull's penis and testicles or a chicken uterus, makes you want to hurl, then you may not have the stomach for this show.  It's my kind of entertainment!

7. Big Love- everyone's favorite polygamist family.  The cast is fab- Bill Paxton, Chloe Sevigny, Jeanne Tripplehorn, Tina Majorino and more. Plus it's produced by Tom Hanks, so it's quality. This season is the best yet.  If you haven't watched this show yet, it's a great rent.

8. Dexter- everyone's favorite psychopathic serial killer.  But, he's on the good side, you see...he only kills really, really bad people...and he's a cop...and he's going to be a daddy soon...and...oh, fine, he's a serial killer, but I love him.

9. The Colbert Report- What can I say about Stephen Colbert?  Brilliant comedy.  Can you handle the truthiness?

10. Soup- who doesn't love to watch Joel McHale make fun of all the other tv shows out there?  My favorite is the Reality Clip of the Week.

My family's new favorite dinner

I got this recipe from my good friend Katie.  I don't know that I would have tried it on my own, but I sure am glad I did.

Amazing Coke BBQ pork roast

Place a pork shoulder (4-5 lbs) in the crockpot.  Pour 1 can of Coke over it.  Cook for 8 hours on low.  Pour out the juices and trim the fat.  (there is a lot with a shoulder, but the chunks of meat pull right off, so it's not hard once it's cooked).  Pour your favorite  my favorite BBQ sauce over it and cook for another 2 hours on low.  Serve on buns or by itself.  Soooooo good.  My family ate the whole 4 lb roast (there are four of us!)

We just wanted to buy a fish tank heater....

...and we came out with a kitten!

I'm going back...probably

So, I tried out my own domain and paying for hosting, but I'm just not earning enough through my ads.  So, as soon as my free month expires, I'm probably going back to http://beckbeck.wordpress.com.  I'll keep you posted.

Obama balloon

We had an artist day at school and a balloon artist was one of the day's favorites.  Check out the balloon that he made in the likeness of President Obama!

Amazing, huh?

If you don't win...

Dave and Bailey were playing tennis on the Wii and Bailey had the great idea that the loser would have to eat 5 wasabi peas.  Dave lost, which was thrilling to me because I'd been trying to get him to try them forever and I just knew he'd love them.

In they go.

I don't think he's enjoying them.

At this point he's screaming, "WATER!!"

He's a big baby.

My little girl had to prove that she could handle it.  Check out the face as she downs 5 peas.

My new sunglasses

Last time I went for an eye exam (2 years ago) my dr. insisted that I get perscription sunglasses because my eyes are blue and were starting to look hazy.  Needless to say, I didn't buy them.  Instead, I bought 2 pair of regular glasses.  I couldn't afford a third pair.  So, today I went back and he said that my eyes are sun damaged and I am 5 years away from cataracts...um, whaaaat?  Cataracts?  Yeah, so, needless to say, I ordered a pair of really cool shades and as of Wednesday, you won't find me outside without them.

Jake, who has always needed glasses, but only a little bit, thus his refusal to wear them, had his eyes checked.  With one eye, he couldn't see the E.  Yes, I said the E!!!  One eye is 400 and one eye is 100 (or around that).  And, with his lovely baby blues, he also needs shades, so we got him a pair that has those magnetized sunglasses that pop on.  Expect pictures in a few days!

LOST Questions

I left last night's episode with more questions than ever!  Here are the questions that wouldn't let me fall asleep! Give me your theories and add your own questions for discussion!

  • What did Kate do with Aaron?  Did she send him to Sun's mom? To his grandmother?

  • Why is Sayid in handcuffs and why would he be taken to Guam?

  • What happened to Ben's face?

  • Why doesn't Walt have to go back?

  • Why don't Aaron and Ji Yeon have to go back?

  • How did Hurley end up on the plane?

  • Once they get on the island- where are Sun, Sayid, Locke & Ben?

  • What year are they in?

  • How did Jin infiltrate Dharma?  I assume this because of his uniform and the new VW van.

Come on- play with me!  And check out Jorge's blog- he has some cool on set photos.

Why is it?

I have a week off and we have doctors visits planned for every day except today.  Yesterday, the kids went for their yearly checkup.  No shots!  Can I get a woo-hoo?  Tomorrow the husband and I get our annual skin cancer check.  Thursday, Jake has an orthodontist appointment and then we'll go straight to the eye doctor for checkups for all and hopefully some contact samples for Jake to try out.  Then, on Friday I have my hair appointment. So, this is the only days for me to get other things done.  I planned on getting the oil changed in my car and taking Jake to Wal-Mart to spend some of his money.  Instead, I click the DVR button on my remote and watch last week's Bizarre Foods episode.  Then, I remember that I have Flowers in the Attic saved as well, so I watch that.  In the meantime, I finish reading all of Jorge Garcia's blog and determine taht I like him so much more than I ever did before.  He is a very funny man! Then, I see that The Wiz has just started, so I watch that too.  Now, it's almost 2pm and Jake & I are still in our jammies and Bailey & Reece are playing in the backyard.  I still have no intention of getting off my couch any time soon.  And that's ok!

LOST

So, I'm reading Cakewrecks, one of my favorite blogs and they have a really cool cake expose on a LOST cake that was made for the cast by Ace of Cakes for the 100th episode.

The cake even features little characters!

How cute is the little Hurley character?

Speaking of Hurley, I'm reading along and enjoying the pictures of the cake when I read at the end that the photos were taken from Jorge Garcia's blog.    Um, what?  Jorge Garcia has a blog?  About LOST?  I haven't been this happy since I found Lostpedia and it's delicious theories.   So, I thought I'd pass along the info, just in case I'm not the last person to hear about it! I'm off to read the blog.

American Idol

I think the judges made a huge mistake last night.  Between four judges, you'd think their decisions would be pretty spot on, but no way.  They let one of the most talented people auditioning go!  Jamar had more talent in his pinky toe than some of these other guys!  Jamar is the guy who's best friend (thank God he made it) had his wife die right before the audition.  The black dude with the weirdo facial piercings.  The one they said didn't stand out enough.  Say whaaaat?

Seriously?  Now, I'm not going to go there with the girls who got in and aren't as good as him because it's a number game.  They have even numbers of girls and guys.

Alex over Jamar?  I think not.

Jorge over Jamar?  Certainly not.

Nick over Jamar?  Heavens no.

Norman over Jamar?  Who are you kidding?

Oh wait...Nick is Norman.  And a resounding NO is heard.

As much as I like him (as a singer, not his annoying crying), Nathaniel over Jamar?  Mmmm, no.  Even though I'm pretty sure we have the same haircut!

I think the judges missed out because he WAS different.  He DID stand out.  He was an attractive guy who sang incredibly.  And they missed out because of the likeability (that spelling just doesn't look right!) factor because of the journey that he and his best friend, Danny Gokey, made.

By the way... where are Danny's glasses in this promo pic?  He looks better with glasses.  Sort of like me!

Paula, Simon, Randy, Cara... I'm disappointed and I think you made a mistake.  Buuuut, I predict now that Danny will win this thing and I bet you think so too.  Next year, I'll be looking for my man, Jamar!

Blissdom '09

At our annual Sisterchick Christmas party, Amanda suggested that we all go to Blissdom '09.   None of us had ever heard of it before and we kind of blew it off.  I just recently decided to buy my own domain and really try to expand my blog, so now I really need the conference!  So, today I'm on Amanda' s site envying the goodies she picked up- like $50 Crocs giftcards!  So, I pop over to the Blissdom page to see what it was all about.  Um, yeah, I should have gone!  Jen Lancaster, my favorite author...ok fine, maybe not my favorite since I've only read one of her books, Bitter is the New Black, is the keynote speaker!  I love her book, I want her other books and I love her blog!  Lucky me, my sisterchick Amanda is buying the books for me and hopefully Jen will sign them.  Needless to say, I've already talked to Staci and we're going next year!

Did you know?

Did you know that the White House now has a blog?   I put it in my bloglines and I get to see a snippet of each post- to see if I want to read about it.  Today I read about the delay in changing tv to digital, the foreclosure crisis, how education should be, as the president toured a DC charter school and the expansion of health care for needy children.  I love this new aspect of the new website- information right at my fingertips, without me having to search on cnn.com.

Did you know that President Obama gives a video message to the country every week?  It's in the section called, "Your Weekly Address."  I also think this is great!  It's nice to have the leaders of our country speaking right to the regular people.

If you haven't checked out the new website, head on over here.
