Losing it-week 2

I had a great week this week.

Exercise:  I got to the Gold's Gym three times- worked my butt off on the treadmill- speed of 3, incline of 3, for 45 minutes.  On the days that I didn't go to the gym I went to White Water with Bailey, which is a workout in itself- lots of walking and lots of stairs!

Diet: I stayed completely vegan until two days ago.  I have now added meat into my diet, but nothing else.  No dairy- no cheese.  I'm having rice milk with my all-natural cereal.  No sugars, no refined carbs.  I can eat veggies, fruits, meat and whole grains.

I have lost 6 lbs!!  Woot!

I cheated for the first time yesterday.  My van needed $1,000 worth of work...and Jake's broken arms cost us $1,000 last month.  That was our vacation money.  The vacation where we were going to drive to New Mexico so I can see my precious nieces for the first time.  The first week, we were staying in a hotel and the second week we were staying with my brother because his older daughters would be at their mom's house.  So, we had decided that we could only go the second week, which would really be only 5 days with 2 days driving there and back. Plus, we'd barely get to see my older nieces. I cried for a good hour- I mean sobbed.  I texted my brother the bad news- I couldn't even make the call.  He called me back a few minutes later and said that my sister-in-law's mother was out of town and had offered us her house for the first week....just 10 minutes from my brother's house!  Then I cried again- out of joy.  When all was said and done, it worked out and I cancelled the $850 hotel stay.  But I was drained from all that crying.  I sat on the couch and ate doritos....and then I had a martini...and that's okay because I'm back on track this morning.  I had a delicious organic apple just now.

  1. Oh Becky! That made me cry. I am SO thankful it worked out. Isn't God amazing. When we reach out to those around us and let them know our needs, He uses them in amazing ways. SO SO SO excited that you get to go for your full two weeks! Yay!!!!

I completely understand the Doritos and martini - isn't it amazing how food comforts us? It's such a battle because it comforts us for a moment and then hurts us later. If only it didn't taste so good. Excited that you're back on track this AM though.

Oh, and the 6 pounds! That's AWESOME!!!!!! You go girl!

  4. 6 lbs! that's awesome. Sounds like you're on a great eating program. I'm so happy that your trip is going to work out for you. What a blessing. I know what it's like to not be able to visit family when you were planning on it. My fam lives in TX while I live in MA. We just had a family reunion and I didn't get to go :o(. Keep up the great work!

  6. I love this post!! I love how real it is. Thanks for encouraging me that even when "life" hits you curve balls, that you don't succumb (for very long) to things that would prevent us from doing this thing with joy! :)
