Last month, I was sifting through the shirts at Goodwill (where I often find great Hollister shirts for my 11 year old!) when I picked up a fabulous long-sleeved Abercrombie shirt in my daughter's size. That's when I noticed a large grease stain. I mumbled and grumbled about it when a woman an aisle over suggested I use Dawn on it. Huh? Dawn dishwashing soap? Yep. I smiled and nodded and put the shirt back.
A few weeks later I was at the grocery store and remembered what she said. I bought an extra bottle of Dawn for my laundry room. I grabbed a shirt of mine that had a grease stain on the front. I squirted some Dawn on it and left it. The next day I washed it with my next wash. Guess what? The stain was GONE!
Since then I have rewashed a bunch of my shirts that had grease stains and EVERY one of them is gone- all with a squirt of Dawn overnight. Wow.
Thank you Goodwill stranger...I wish I had trusted you enough to buy an Abercrombie shirt for $3!

Disclosure: I am in no way being compensated for this post about Dawn dishwashing soap. Dawn has no clue who I am!
I was just thinking about my love for Dawn. I might post about it tomorrow. Yes, it works great on grease stains, even ones that have been through the dryer. It's still my favorite for dishes, too!
ReplyDeleteLauren from Mama's Laundry Talk often refers to the "blue Dawn" as some sort of miracle juice. I use Dawn to strip my cloth diapers, so it gets an A+ in my book!
ReplyDeleteMy dearest friends Richard and Billy used to call me "Aunt Jane" because I hailed the Dawn product. Wait til they hear about using it on stains, maybe I'll be called Auntie Jane!
